Sri Lanka Railways is planning to deploy a new Intercity Train from Maradana to Beliatta according to several trusted sources.
We can expect the new train service from mid of September 2019.

The demand for coastal line train services has increased after extending the railway line up to Beliatta. So passengers would benefit from this new train.
The service will use a Class S13 powerset that was imported from India. We don’t have any information about the schedule for now. We will update once we get more details about the service.
