The renovated railway line from Anuradhapura to Omanthai was declared open by Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardana today (13).
The railway track was closed for nearly 6 months for renovation and it was completed with the help of Indian line of credit.
The railway track is built to operate trains at 100 km per hour and a train hauled by Class M11 950 exceeded 100 km per hour speed during the trail run.
However, the public train services will resume on the 15th of July and there are several changes to the Northern railway train schedule. (We will be announcing the changes soon)
