The Policy Development Office of the Prime Minister’s Office stated that 2 major internet service providers are planning to establish 89 Wi-Fi zones at 53 railway stations in Sri Lanka.
One company will implement 49 Wi-Fi zones while the other company will establish the rest of Wi-Fi zones at railway stations.
There will be 42 Wi-Fi zones located within the Western province and 22 of them will centralize 14 railway stations in Colombo district.
3 railway station in Central province, 5 railway stations in North-Western province and 5 railway stations in Uva province will get Wi-Fi facility under this project.
