Sri Lanka Railways is planning to replace the existing Tablet Signaling System between Polgahawela and Kurunegala railway stations with a new Color Light Signaling System. The implementation of the new system will be done by the end of December 2019.
The new Color Signaling system is 100% locally designed and developed by the Signal & Telecommunication Sub Department of Sri Lanka Railways.
More importantly, the new Color Light Signaling System is more sophisticated and uses low-energy than the Indian Color Signaling System which operates beyond Anuradhapura.
Technical info: Route Relay Interlocking with Local Control panel
Once the implementation is done, we can expect reduced one-way travel time between Polgahawela-Pothuhera and Pothuhera-Kurunegala.
